Hong Kong’s burger turf wars are being taken to the next level – again. Following the long-awaited opening of Shake Shack several months ago, hoardings have just hit the streets of Wan Chai revealing that that other cult-favourite burger chain Five Guys is set to open here.

Located in the former Tommy Bahama store on Johnston Road, next to The Pawn and beneath Bo Innovation in the J Senses building, the fast food operator – voted America’s favourite burger chain for the last two years – plans to welcome customers come the autumn. Despite having more than 1,000 locations, this is Five Guys’ first opening in East Asia.

local website is up and running but otherwise, information is scarce. Whether or not they plan to add Hong Kong specific items to their menu, à la Shake Shack and its HK-style ‘concretes’, remains to be seen. When more information is available, we’ll let you know.
