Hong Kong’s burger turf wars are being taken to the next level – again. Following the long-awaited opening of Shake Shack several months ago, hoardings have just hit the streets of Wan Chai revealing that that other cult-favourite burger chain Five Guys is set to open here.
Located in the former Tommy Bahama store on Johnston Road, next to The Pawn and beneath Bo Innovation in the J Senses building, the fast food operator – voted America’s favourite burger chain for the last two years – plans to welcome customers come the autumn. Despite having more than 1,000 locations, this is Five Guys’ first opening in East Asia.
A local website is up and running but otherwise, information is scarce. Whether or not they plan to add Hong Kong specific items to their menu, à la Shake Shack and its HK-style ‘concretes’, remains to be seen. When more information is available, we’ll let you know.
