The annual Chinese New Year Night Parade is back to ring in the Year of the Snake! Around 100,000 spectators are expected to flood the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui as the parade brings a roaring celebration featuring a street party, spectacular floats, as well as performers from Hong Kong and around the world, including K-pop girl group Kep1er and Thai boy band LYKN. When is the Chinese New Year Night Parade?
The Chinese New Year Night Parade will take place on January 29 from 8pm to 9.45pm. To get the crowd in a festive mood early on, a street performance party featuring juggling acts, magic shows, dancing, and music performances will entertain visitors along the parade route in Tsim Sha Tsui from 6pm onwards.
Do note that the first float and parade group will arrive at Canton Road at around 8.30pm and Nathan Road around 9pm, while the last float will reach the end point at around 10.30pm.
What is the parade route in Tsim Sha Tsui?
The Chinese New Year Night Parade will begin its route at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza as its starting point. It will then proceed along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, and Nathan Road, before finishing at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers along Salisbury Road. Best places to watch the Chinese New Year Parade
You can catch the exciting spectacle for free along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, and Nathan Road – just make sure you get there early to nab a decent spot! Those staying at home can enjoy the show on TVB's Jade channel from 8pm to 9.45pm.
For a guaranteed view, tickets are also available for the spectator stands with dedicated zones along the parade route. Ticket sales begin on January 11 (8am) at the Hong Kong Tourism Board Kowloon Visitor Centre at the Star Ferry Fire in Tsim Sha Tsui. Prices vary from $300 to $480 per person on a fast-come, first-served basis., with a maximum of four tickets per person per transaction.
What can I see at the Chinese New Year Night Parade?
This year's parade will feature nine floats, along with 46 local and international performance groups, including K-pop girl group Kep1er and Thai boy band LYKN.
Other highlights include Mumbai-based dance crew V.Unbeatable, who won the 2020 America's Got Talent: The Champions; Austrian acrobatic group Zurcaroh; traditional Korean dance group Art Stage Daol; stilt walking troupe The Fantastic Trip from Germany; Bravery Dancers, the first golden buzzer winner of the 2023 Indonesia's Got Talent, and many more.
How do I get there?
There will be road closures roughly two to three hours before and after the parade, so the best way to get to all the action is by taking the MTR and getting off at the Tsim Sha Tsui or East Tsi Sha Tsui station. Those coming from Hong Kong Island can also take the ferry from Central or Wan Chai pier.
