Following Ophelia, J Boroski, Iron Fairies and Yojimbo, busy designer Ashley Sutton has just unveiled his latest project in our city, Dear Lilly, which occupies the former Zentro space in the IFC.
In keeping with Sutton’s signature over-the-top aesthetics, this restaurant and bar is strewn with all sorts of romance-inspired motifs, from flowers and perfume bottles, to vintage love letters and heart-shaped booths for couples. The restaurant also features floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can take in the amazing harbour view (that is, when you’re not gazing into your lover’s eyes).
Since the best way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, Dear Lilly offers a sophisticated menu of modern European dishes. There’s a penchant for the light flavours of the Mediterranean, with dishes such as slow-cooked octopus with roasted pepper salsa, rocket and seaweed hummus, and a puttanesca pappardelle with olives, capers and anchovies. Also expect expertly crafted cocktails, especially those inspired by the classic tipples of the ’20s.
