Homegrown singer-songwriter Kiri T will be having her first solo concert on October 19, delving into her journey and experiences in music production. She’s known for writing tracks for artists the likes of Joey Yung, Jan Lamb, and Janice Vidal, but songwriting was an artistic space she once felt lost in. Audiences and fans can now immerse themselves in Kiri’s musicality that she has honed since the tender age of 14. Tickets to her concert are on sale for $650.

The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong will honour the year of Czech music with an evening of Czech classical music, featuring Vilém Veverka on the oboe and Kateřina Englichová on the harp. Both are fantastic interpreters of the Czech classical repertoire, and will be performing works such as Martinů's Oboe Concerto, an adaptation of Smetana’s Moldau Fantasy, and an oboe version of Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp. This is a great opportunity to explore Czech folk music if you’ve never experienced it before.

Tickets for the concert run from $200 to $500. Veverka and Englichová will also hold masterclasses for their respective instruments on October 20 at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre – observer tickets for this are priced at $100.

Other highlights include renowned composer Antonio Sánchez performing his award-winning score for Birdman live alongside the entire movie; Joey Alexander, one of the most gifted young contemporary jazz musicians; pianist Ted Lo – Hong Kong’s godfather of jazz – performing with the best of our new-gen jazz musicians; as well as the Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra with Cantopop band Rubberband. Tickets range from $380 to $1,280, depending on the performance, while a range of other programmes are free to attend.

Hong Kong’s favourite annual musical extravaganza is back again to shake up the Central Harbourfront. While in previous years, the concert has always been a one-night-only event that’s absolutely jam-packed, this year they’ve decided to spread the love and add a second night to the festivities.

Under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Elim Chan, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a mix of classic masterpieces and music inspired by fairytales. Apart from excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (most notably featured in the 1940 Disney film Fantasia), and pianist Chiyan Wong performing Tsfasman’s Jazz Suite, there will also be music from Beauty and the Beast, Romeo & Juliet, and more, before the musical night ends with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and a fireworks display.

Admission to the Swire Symphony Under The Stars is free, but those who wish to go will need to pre-register. Online registrations for tickets will run from noon on October 24 to 7pm on October 28, and each person can apply for up to four tickets. The lucky concertgoers will then be chosen by ballot from the pool of registered entries, to be announced on October 31. If you don’t manage to get tickets, the first night of the concert on November 16 will be livestreamed on HK Phil’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube page, as well as broadcast live on RTHK TV 32. See more ways to watch the concert remotely on the HK Phil website.

We’re sure Blackjacks all over Hong Kong are in a frenzy right now! The second-generation K-pop queens will be doing an Asia tour as additional concerts for their 15th anniversary celebrations, and our city is first on their list. This tour is all the more momentous since the group has not been active as a full quartet since 2016, and have just announced earlier in July of this year that they will be reuniting.

After playing Hong Kong on December 8, CL, Sandara Park, Park Bom, and Minzy will then head to Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and two other cities that have yet to be announced. Ticketing details and even the concert venue are not yet available at the time of writing, but we’ll be updating when we have more information.

English singer-songwriter James Blunt is returning to Hong Kong towards the end of this year! The singer of the early noughties’ hit You’re Beautiful will take the stage at AsiaWorld-Expo, following the release of his seventh studio album ‘Who We Used to Be’ last year. Judging from accounts of the tour, which is already ongoing through Europe, fans can expect to hear a good mix of uptempo songs, the soulful ballads that Blunt is most known for, and some of his trusty classics.

Apart from You’re Beautiful, highlight tracks of this concert include Glow, Postcards, his debut single High, and Dark Thought (which was written for his friend and actor Carrie Fisher as he came to terms with her passing). Tickets run from $980 to $1,380, and are on sale now.

If you missed seeing Charlie Puth when he played in Hong Kong last October, then perk up now! Hongkongers can simply hop on a ferry ride to see the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter on stage in Macau at the end of this year.

Puth is also currently working on his fourth studio album, and we’re praying he’ll play a sneak peek or two!

Tickets run from $588 to $1,688, and there are also two VIP experiences that can be tacked on at an additional cost. The Learn Something New experience costs $1,400 and includes access to a pre-show Q&A with Puth himself, a VIP-exclusive merch item, VIP-exclusive prints and laminate, and a dedicated merch lane. Following the announcement that their new LP X’s will be dropping on July 12, Cigarettes After Sex will also be going on a world tour that will extend into 2025. The band’s slowcore, raw, pop sound is gradually drawing from slow dance inspiration from the 70s and 80s. Their music has always been easy to sink into with a sensuality that has become part of their signature sound. As the trio will only arrive in town on tour early next year, ticketing details have yet to be announced, but check back for updates!

Japanese boy band Naniwa Danshi has announced that Hong Kong will be the third stop on their +Alpha tour, after Taipei and Seoul. Though this is their first time ever on a Hong Kong stage, the seven members are ready to bring a big dose of youthful energy with two nights of their music and performances. Naniwa Danshi is the fourth group under Japan’s Starto Entertainment to consist of members who mainly come from the Kansai region – other music acts who also had this trait were KinKi Kids, Super Eight (formerly Kanjani8), and West. This +Alpha tour follows the release of the band’s third album of the same name, and judging by the 42 shows across nine Japanese cities that they’ve already done, we’re in for a show. Ticketing details have yet to be announced, so check back for more.
