Two incredible stories are being presented this July by the Tongzhi Literary Group. Peter Wood's memoir Mud Between Your Toes: A Rhodeasian Farm deals with the identity struggles faced by the white African/Chinese gay man growing up as a teen in 1970s Hong Kong and Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). A Death in Hong Kong: Suppression of a Scandal is biographer Nigel Collett's take on the life and death of Inspector John MacLennan of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, whose body was found with five bullets inside him in his office at the Ho Man Tin police headquarters and deemed a suicide. At the time, MacLennan was about to be arrested on charges of of gross indecency with male prostitutes.
