Starring two local icons who passed away tragically early – the hugely talented Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung – catch a rare cinema screening of this Hong Kong classic as part of the LCSD’s Enchanting Shadows series. The film centres on a ghost searching for her lost love and tells of her doomed romance with a wealthy playboy in 1930s Hong Kong. Stanley Kwan’s award-winning film skilfully juxtaposes the decadent past with a more mundane 1980s and catalogues the cultural changes across those 50 years.
