We love our hiking trails here in Hong Kong (if you need recommendations, check out our guide here) and if you think Dragon’s Back and Sunset Peak are all too easy, well, maybe you should try Hong Kong’s Four Trails Ultra Challenge.
The gruelling exercise was started in 2012 by Andre Blumberg as an attempt to run all of Hong Kong's long distance trails – MacLehose Trail (100km), Wilson Trail (78km), Lantau Trail (70km) and Hong Kong Trail (50km) – in four consecutive days. After some experimentation, the current format was finalised: a single effort to finish all four of these trails, running in the reverse trail direction all within 60 hours.
New documentary, Breaking 60, follows several runners and their attempts to complete the course in the allotted time – something not previously done. If you want to find out whether anyone managed to beat the clock this year, you’ll have to watch the documentary when it gets released in the autumn.
