Any Hongkonger left bereft after the closure of Abercrombie & Fitch’s pungent Pedder Street store can remove their mourning cardigan. Yes, we’re happy to report that the brand that once sold a woman’s T-shirt emblazoned with the line “Who needs a brain when you’ve got these?” is bringing its pastel-coloured prepwear to Harbour City later this year.
The new store will be smaller than the previous one in Central but, worry not, apparently there are plans to open up to seven A&F stores across Hong Kong before the end of the year. Based on a new A&F ‘prototype’ store, the talk of ‘omni-channel capabilities’ and innovative changing rooms (whatever that implies) certainly has us excited. Or maybe it’s the scantily clad staff liable to be around on opening day? #nohomo
