Perched atop Repulse Bay’s luxurious shopping centre, The Pulse, is an oasis of calm and tranquillity, otherwise known as Cabana. This spacious alfresco bar features luxurious sunbeds, cosy cabanas and, best of all, cold Japanese-style Jacuzzi-sized pools in which you can sit back, relax and enjoy the view over the sea.
Closed the first two days of the week, on Wednesday to Friday the offerings are à la carte with a minimum spend of $150 per person. If you’re popping by on the weekend, only packages are available and start from $580. For our Saturday session, the $580 combo includes one full bottle of champagne per person, use of the sun loungers and Japanese pools, a towel service and some tasty nibbles.
As we settle into our sunbed with chill house beats playing in the background, full champagne glasses in hand, taking in the stunning panorama of Repulse Bay, it’s hard to feel anything but relaxed. This is completely indulgent and we can’t
help but love it.
The champers goes down a treat and just as we’re getting peckish we’re handed some moreish cheese crackers. An hour or so later, we’re handed a fresh fruit platter. And then, just around sunset, a bowl of scrumptious chilli-coated olives is placed in front of us. Bubbles, a view and delicious snacks – what more can you ask for?
In addition to the spotless surroundings, the service is also immaculate. The waiters are all extremely friendly and go above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. In a city like Hong Kong, where service is often questionable at best, this is a much welcome bonus.
Whether you’re looking for an alternative girls’ day out or to celebrate with that special someone, Cabana is definitely worth considering. It’s an ideal escape from hectic Hong Kong life and we know we’ll be back as soon as possible. Alice Jenkins
