Nihonshu lovers can start their December with a delectable sake-pairing dinner at The Langham’s modern steakhouse Bostonian Seafood & Grill. For the first time, and for one night only, the restaurant is hosting its first-ever sake-pairing dinner from 7pm until 9.30pm together with one of the oldest sake breweries in Japan, Yamano Kotobuki. Priced at $1,288 per person, the menu offers a five-course tasting dinner where guests can sample six kinds of sake, including Yamano Kotobuki Junmai Ginjo Omachi 13 Nama, Yamano Kotobuki Junmai Daiginjo Yamadanishiki 38, and Yamano Kotobuki Junmai Daiginjo Freaks 2, among others. Guests can learn more about sake culture and the Yamano Kotobuki brewery and its bottlings from a sake expert from Japan.
The menu includes a series of canapes like lobster and avocado mousse, tempura prawn with autumn maple syrup and bacon-wrapped water chestnut, followed by foie gras and porcini mushroom terrine and sake jelly and pan-seared cod fillet with velouté sauce. Guests can clean their palates with a refreshing lime sorbet paired with Yamano Kotobuki Junmai Ginjo Freaks 2 before moving on to the mains, a meaty char-grilled veal cutlet and Alaskan king crab leg, which is elegantly paired with Yamano Kotobuki Yamadanishiki ‘The Kan’. The dessert comes in a wasabi apple crumble paired with Kidoizumi Shuzo Junmai AFS Genshu.
