The High Island Reservoir Dam is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Hong Kong, known for its stunning scenery, unique geological formations, and diverse flora and fauna. To get there, you can take a 30-minute taxi ride from Sai Kung Town directly to High Island Reservoir East Dam. Once there, you can enjoy the sunrise along the reservoir and take in the spectacular views of the clear turquoise lake. Head down the slope, walk along the High Island Geo Trail, and take tons of pictures amidst the hexagonal rock columns. If you're up for more adventure, head back to the East Dam and take a 25-minute walk, mostly downhill, to hit the pristine beach of Long Ke Wan, where you can lounge for a few hours before heading back to town.
