Halley Cheng: Twist/Turn

Inspired by novelist Chan Koonchung’s analogy of China being a Rubik’s Cube, fixed at its core despite immediate changes to the surface, Cheng tackles themes from the Hong Kong and China unity, social conflict and polarizing shifts in his latest multimedia works. These works are a blend of classical tradition and contemporary techniques, and Cheng’s fragmented images are a portrayal of the social and political fault lines of our society.
