Chen Chengwei: Fated for Half A Lifetime

16 oil paintings by the celebrated Chinese artist Chen Chengwei are on display at Yan Gallery for 10 days only. Known for its distinct photo-realistic painting style, Chen’s oil paintings are heavily influenced by 17th-century Dutch painters and demonstrate his skill in creating dramatic light effects on canvas. For this exhibition, Chen depicts different women from the Republic Era dressed in elegant cheongsams and jewellery, each reflecting individual stories and character.
