With its daily traffic of yummy mummies and latte dads, it was perhaps only a matter of time before Byres Road got a branch of this fast-growing UK-wide women’s clothing, accessories, jewellery, interiors and furniture shop.

With about the most pleasingly colourful window display on the street, there’s no walking by Oliver Bonas without spotting the place. Inside there are lovely things to feast your eyes upon – everything from butterfly mugs to photo frames, retro telephones, funky cushions, and stacks of quirky coffee-table books on subjects of food, design, travel, yoga and more. You can buy large-scale furniture pieces such as industrial-style, wall-mounted shelving units in copper or neon orange, or brightly upholstered sofas and chairs. Or you can simply buy parts for your own furniture upcycling project such as colourful hand-painted drawer handles.

The women’s fashion selection includes brands such as Emily & Fin, Vila, Vero Moda and Oliver Bonas’s own in-house designer Poem, and ranges from pretty floral tops, blouses and dresses to jumpers and coats. There’s also a nice little selection of clothes and gift ideas for babies and new mums and dads – just be sure to tell those new yummy mummies and latte dads where you got their presents from.
