1. Òran Mór

If you’re looking for a taste of Scotland’s famously warm hospitality, Òran Mór has it in spades. This former 19th-century parish church has been transformed into a sparkling dining space with stunning stained glass windows, soaring vaulted ceilings and intimate bar areas covered in patterned wallpaper and plush furnishings. Behind the bar, you’ll find over 150 Scotch whiskeys. Pair your favourite with a Pepsi MAX and one of their classic dishes, which include local favourites like haggis. Named after the Gaelic word for ‘Big Sound’, you’ll also find plenty of entertainment here too, from trad bands to DJs.

2. Mezcal

Mezcal is a Mexican spirit, which, like tequila, is distilled from the agave plant and has a distinctively strong smokey taste. So, it’s apt that this restaurant, named after the drink, specialises in bold, vibrant flavours from the Latin American country. Tuck into everything from tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas or gorditas. Pair your dish with one of their mezcal cocktails, like the peach mezcal margarita or mezcal Mexican mule, or stick to an ice-cold Pepsi MAX.

3. Pizza Punks

In true anarchistic punk style, this Glasgow pizzeria doesn’t play by the rules when it comes to its slices of dough. Here you’ll find audacious and exciting takes on traditional Italian fare, like the Hawaiirn-Bru pizza with Irn-Bru ham hock and scotch bonnet and pineapple hot sauce, or the Ruby Murray pizza with masala curry sauce, tandoori chicken and a popadom. There’s even a caramel Biscoff pizza for dessert – if you have room. The anarchy extends to their craft cocktails. Go for a smoked vanilla Manhattan or the tropical coconut mojito, or keep things simple with a refreshing Pepsi MAX.

4. Stack & Still

We all know Pancake Day is one of the best days of the year, so there’s no reason to make eating perfect circles of batter purely an annual thing. This pancake house will tempt you back time and time again with its stacks of customisable pancakes. While Scotch pancakes are a big delicacy in Scotland, this place leans more towards the US style, with fluffy buttermilk, buckwheat and protein hotcakes and rich toppings. Choose your own, or opt for one of their signature stacks. Wash it all down with a glass of Pepsi MAX or a hand-spun shake, if you’ve got enough room.
