A stalwart outpost of the chic Malmaison chain since 1994 – it was the second ever Malmaison to open its doors – this hotel has been regarded as one of the best places to stay in Glasgow for a couple of decades. It's far from new of course but if anyone thought the management might be getting a little complacent, that fear was dealt with in November 2014 when Michelin-starred Scottish chef Martin Wishart opened The Honours here, a sister venue for his successful haute bistro of the same name in Edinburgh. The premises meanwhile date to the 1830s and were originally a church, built in Greek Revival style – Malmaison offers interesting features both inside and out.
