If you prefer to skip the supermarkets and do your food shopping locally, now’s your chance to nominate your favourite to be named Glasgow’s best independent food shop.

The BBC Good Food Show Scotland is on the hunt for the city’s finest hidden gem to take home the accolade for the third year. The winner will receive a free stand at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland at the SECC in November, to showcase whatever it is that makes their shop special.

For the first time, nominations can be made on social media and the shop with the most submissions will be automatically shortlisted and visited by the judges.

The judges will be looking at the range of international and local produce on offer; quality and value of produce; product knowledge and enthusiasm; customer service and the shop’s services, facilities and involvement with the local community.

So, if your favourite shop deserves to take home the prize, nominate it by visiting the BBC Good Food Show Scotland website or on Twitter or Instagram by tagging @BBCGoodFoodShow and using the hashtag #GFSFoodShop.

You can also big up your favourite indie food shop in the comments below - it won't count towards the official vote, but we're always on the lookout for your recommendations.

BBC Good Food Show Scotland, SECC, November 6-8.
