Gorgues de Font de la Torre

These are the most well-known gorges in the Girona region and, as a result, among the most crowded. But spending the day in Canet and not visiting them would be like going to Barcelona and not seeing one of Gaudí's buildings. The gorges of Font de la Torre are volcanic in origin, produced by material from the riverbed hitting the sides. And they are by far one of the the best spaces in Girona for cooling down in the summer months, and not collapsing from sunstroke in the attempt, thanks to the shade of the trees. A few years ago, they remodelled the area and put in a footbridge, waterwheel and walking route from one end to the other of the river of Canet. By the way, don't miss your chance to wash your face in the spring (whether it needs it or not). According to legend, the water from this source is rejuvenating because it's where water-nymphs wash.
