If you like pretty pink places and enjoy eating cupcakes, we recommend you maintain a serious distance from this bar in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. If, on the other hand, you appreciate the deep stare of a sea dog, the silence of fishermen playing dominoes, and seafood cooking without any signature flourishes, this is the spot for you. It's not much more than a hut in the middle of the esplanade of the port, and it has about zero charm, but that's what makes it one of the most authentic places on the Costa Brava, whose customers still live off the sea and don't suffer fools gladly. The rice dishes are classics and plentiful, the salad ingredients come from a real vegetable garden, and the grilled sardines are a marvel. On winter afternoons, when the sun is setting behind Port Salvi and its dusk light enters this neorealist bar between the dusty blinds, life borders on the perfect.
