Well this is a real treat: Edinburgh is the first city in the UK to get a run for Robert Icke and International Theatre Amsterdam’s wildly acclaimed take on this immortal tragedy. Icke is quite probably Britain’s best director, and the chance to see his powers meet those of perhaps the best ensemble of actors in the world is not one any sane theatrelover would miss. The play itself is Sophocles’s tragedy reimagined as a tight political thriller, about a politician who commits a terrible mistake. In Dutch with English supertitles.
