Aussie comic Hannah Gadsby stormed last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with her searingly personal stand-up show ‘Nanette’, which won every comedy award going, took her to the cusp of household name status and has even been picked up by Netflix. It was also billed as her final stand-up show – but would she literally quit performance? Apparently not: for 2018 she has reappeared in the theatre section of the Fringe programme, for a show that’s billed as ‘an art lecture about that massive blind spot in the male gaze’. It is also described as ‘hilarious’, which suggests that it’s not so very from what she was doing before. But whatever the case, comedy’s loss is suely going to be theatre’s gain.
