Part of Valvona & Crolla’s burgeoning foodie stable, VinCaffe has long proved a tasty addition to Scotland’s oldest deli and Italian wine merchants. Housed on Multrees Walk amidst a sea of posh designer emporiums, the clientele here is largely well-heeled shoppers, or passers-by stopping in for a cuppa and cake in the Café section downstairs, or more sophisticated Italian dining, upstairs in the Ristorante.
A sister outfit to the original Valvona & Crolla shop and café on Elm Row, this family-run affair is all about the produce, from their own bakery made bread to their own brand olive oil. The antipasto plates with a glass V&C’s own excellent fizz or wine selection are a great shout – the Tagliere di Manzo (wafer thin slices of Aberdeen Angus fillet) coming highly recommended. Beyond a decent pizza and pasta selection, specials, such as medallion of Scottish pork with prosciutto or a lamb-based Sicilian stew, keep things interesting. On a sunny day, the seated terrace space outside offers additional appeal, providing a perfect spot for some top notch people watching.
