Rhubarb is another hotel dining room but set in the sumptuous Prestonfield House, a grand 17th century mansion under Arthur’s Seat, refurbished to luxury hotel standard in the early noughties. The décor almost defies description (‘Wow,’ is a common response) but it’s certainly film-set gorgeous. A typical main course here might be flame-grilled roe deer loin with heritage carrots cooked in salt clay, pickled ginger, glazed turnips and sauce poivrade. Bring the credit card.
