It’s a rare thing these days to find a truly great local eatery, but Nonna’s Kitchen is just that. Loved by the Morningside locals who flock here – and those who venture from further afield – this is laidback Italian dining, cooked with love and served with care. Opened in 2010 by Gino Stornaiuolo, this family-run spot does a great line in tasty, thin-base pizzas and artisan pastas, as well as a memorable clutch of fish and meat mains. Daily specials keep the adults happy, while a tasty kids menu keeps the nippers suitably satiated.
Smaller portions of mains can be made should you want to mix and match, with popular Italian staples like Pizza Salsiccia Piccante, Linguine Frutti di Mare and Lasagne di Nonna offering as much flavour and interest as specials, namely the Pumpkin Ravioli or the largely excellent Fish of the Day. Wash it down with Nonna’s Italian-only wine list and the job’s a good‘un.
