The original and long-running Fishers Bistro in Leith opened this branch in a New Town backstreet in 2001 and it has been a mainstay of city centre dining ever since. Smart, but not formal, the Favourites menu brings the classic Fishers chowder, fishcakes, fish and chips, shellfish and more. Mains from the à la carte are more ambitious: grilled whole sole with tarragon and anchovy butter, orange and wood sorrel salad for example.
