Not so much a down-home curry house as a new millennium vision of Asian dining – it opened in 2000 – Britannia Spice has a vaguely nautical theme and a menu with dishes from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Thailand. (It still does chicken tikka masala though.) Popular with tourists and people celebrating special occasions, its name was inspired by HMY Britannia which is berthed a few minutes’ walk away at Leith’s Western Harbour.
