The second Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival launches this month (October 2-11), with 11 feature films, five documentaries and five shorts showcasing the best in Spanish cinematic talent alongside talks from directors and Q&As. Most of the screenings will take place at the Filmhouse, with additional screenings at the University of Edinburgh and regular tapas treats (as well as the opening and closing parties) at the Traverse Theatre.
The festival kicks off with the UK premiere of ‘Las Sinsombrero’, including a discussion with director Tánia Balló, and ‘La Vida Inesperada’ (‘The Unexpected Life’), which will be presented by the film’s screenwriter and novelist Elvira Lindo.
Other screening highlights include award-winning animated film ‘Metegol’ (‘The Unbeatables’) followed by an animation workshop at Edinburgh College of Arts, and culinary documentary ‘Snacks’ presented by directors Cristina Jolonch and Verónica Escuer, and followed by a selection of Spanish drinks and tapas.
The festival will finish with a closing party at the Traverse Bar featuring a live show by Spanish pop duo Single, which will be free entry with ESFF cinema tickets.
