To the average pedestrian, Francis Street may not offer much. But it’s a must-see for urban explorers and Instagram fiends. Tucked off Thomas Street, it’s home to both the Tivoli Theatre and the adjacent Tivoli Theatre car park. Operated separately, the latter offers a burst of color in an otherwise dull area. Established and emerging street artists travel from all over Ireland and the the world to add their own tag, design, or mural. Rumors are swirling that the theatre is being converted to an aparthotel, but the city has agreed to preserve the car park’s creative utopia.
Time Out tip: See the artists in action at the annual Graffiti Jam, sponsored by All City Records since 2008.
