The usual take on gastronomy on Hvar is that the waterfront restaurants should be your first port of call. But there is also fine selection of spots in the narrow streets north of the Cathedral. One such venue, with a good reputation, is Passarola. It's a seafood restaurant with more modern, slightly artistic, approach to cooking and presentation. It also offers meat dishes you wouldn't ordinarily find nearby, such as beefsteak in truffle sauce and duck breast à l'orange. Of course, there are classics, too: tuna steak, risotto with shrimp and asparagus, and various pastas.
