This traditional tavern located between St Simeon’s Church and Five Wells is named after the old football player who then passed the establishment on to his cousin. It fills around marenda time at elevenish, locals snacking on salted anchovies or octopus salad while mulling over the fate of the popular local basketball team. Skoblar does full lunches and dinners too, and in summer the meat offerings are reduced to leave kitchen space for plenty of fish and shellfish dishes – there are at least three kinds of shellfish in the black risotto. Sweet desserts are the house speciality here, either kalelarga cheesecake or Sv Stošija, a cherry cake made with Maraschino, the local fruit liqueur.
