Just off Dubrovnik’s historic main street of Stradun, Forty-Four is essentially a stylish guesthouse with a restaurant on the ground floor. Open to non-residents via a separate door, this is also where hotel guests get to have breakfast. Exquisitely presented Croatian dishes – including the signature risotto with pesto truffles and scallops – are served within bare-brick surroundings, the salads and fish drizzled with olive oil produced by the same family who run the place. Lobster is another speciality and top Croatian wines can be paired with most dishes.
