Taking its name from Hugo Pratt’s comic-book character, this is the latest addition to Split’s affordable eateries. This one is excellently positioned next to the old fish market, its menu not quite the same as others’ in the neighbourhood. As well as the quick and easy-to-cook gnocchi, chicken and meatballs, there’s blue fish and a small but handy selection of cold and warm appetisers, some a simple meal in themselves. Corto Maltese is popular among younger tourists, thanks to its prices, and its attractive interior, with an open kitchen so you can watch the whole process of your dish being made.
