Nearly 11,000 visitors generated just over 23,000 overnight stays in Zagreb for the spectacular five-day Festival of Lights in March.
Along with domestic tourists, hotel guests came mainly from Italy, Germany, the USA, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Slovenia.
From March 16-20, the city’s streets, squares, parks and landmarks were transformed by impressive light installations created by visual artists at more than 30 sites.
In a poll taken during the event, the Tuškanac Summer Stage was voted the most popular laser show, followed by the Mimara Museum, the Croatian National Theatre, the Grič Tunnel and the Church of St Catherine.
Inaugurated in 2017, the Zagreb Festival of Lights was reintroduced after a two-year break due to the pandemic. It follows similar initiatives in other world cities such as Berlin and New York.
