Once a year, the northern Croatian town of Varaždin bursts into action for Špancirfest. Kicking off tomorrow, Friday, August 18, and running for ten days, the festival will attract crowds from across Croatia and the region for music, dancing and all kinds of performances.
Špancirfest sees the historic town's streets, squares and courtyards transformed into temporary stages, theatres, restaurants, bars, clubs and workshop spaces in order to accommodate one of the largest and most diverse public celebrations in Croatia.
Some of the best restaurants from across the country will be represented by dozens of food trucks and booths. The festival also includes a full programme for kids, including theatre, music and workshops.
Entrance to the festival is free, but tickets to the daily concerts are €10-€12. For more information, tickets and the full schedule of events, see the Špancirfest website.
