The elegant Pedestrian Bridge that spans the Drava between the historic centre of Slavonian capital Osijek and its recreation zone has been illuminated in the colours of the Croatian football shirt ahead of the team’s vital World Cup semi-final with Argentina.

The team, finalists in 2018, is looking to reach the same pinnacle tonight, Tuesday, led by its star captain, the veteran midfielder Luka Modrić. Many of the same players who made the final in Russia will be appearing again for perhaps their last major campaign in a Croatian shirt. It won’t be their last match together, however, as win or lose, the Vatreni will either play the play-off for third and fourth place on Saturday – or the final on Sunday.

See here for tips on where to see tonight's game in Zagreb.
