Hosted in the elegant resort of Opatija since 2012, Croatia's Dora song contest is looking for a new home. Speculation suggests that the event will be returning to Zagreb, where it was last held in 2011.
Dora decides the nation’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, the winner determined by public vote and jury scoring, weighted 50/50. It was this process that allowed Let 3 to earn the right to perform in Liverpool at last year’s Eurovision, achieving Croatia’s highest result in recent years with their outrageous and campy performance of their song, Mama ŠČ!
This year, a record-breaking 203 submissions have been whittled down to a 24-strong list, with state channel HRT confirming that there would also be a semi-final phase for the first time since 2011. Zagreb would be the ideal host for such an expanded event.
Regardless of venue, organisers hope they can build on the success and interest generated by Let 3’s successful and headline-snatching showing. Eurovision 2024 is due to take place this May in Malmö, Sweden.
