Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has just announced a new route between the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and Split. Two flights a week will operate from mid-June until the end of September. The move is significant as, unlike almost every other European country, Hungary has no national carrier. Wizz Air is the de facto flagship with a huge destination roster. Launched in 2008, it currently flies to 164 airports and has added a large number of new routes while keeping as active as possible during the pandemic.
The company already serves Split from London Luton, Rome, Vienna and several airports in Poland. With its planes no longer able to fly to Ukraine, given this unexpected extra capacity, Wizz Air is expected to be adding more Split routes shortly.
