A ruined military base outside Dubrovnik has just been given the green light for a major tourist development 6km from the Old Town. Recently used as a film set for the upcoming war drama Lee, Kupari has just been granted the last local permits required for construction to go ahead.
Conceived by Zagreb-based architects 3LHD, the Kupari Dubrovnik Resort will create one upscale destination from five historic hotels, guests relaxing on their own private beach, pool complex with waterside cabanas and sports zones.
The site stretches over 170,000 square metres, halfway between Dubrovnik and the city’s airport nearby.
