Linked with the legend of 17th-century buccaneer Henry Morgan, Lim Bay is the perfect place for any pirate to escape their pursuers and hide their ill-gotten gains. Resembling one of Norway’s great fjords – this was also the location for the 1964 Viking film, The Long Ships – Lim Bay is a 10km-long channel flanked by dramatically steep sides, easily accessible from nearby Rovinj.

As part of the series Istra Inspirit, themed tours and events highlighting fascinating aspects of Istrian history and culture, Lim Bay Pirates takes visitors on a boat tour of the estuary. An English-speaking guide tells the story of Henry Morgan, said to have buried his treasure where x marks the spot among the ruins of Dvigrad alongside.

The next three tours are scheduled for 7pm on August 8, 22 and 26. A place on the boat costs €10 and must be booked in advance. The event lasts for one hour and children are welcome.
