Integral to an engineering feat more than three years in the making, a bridge over the Cetina River near Omiš in central Dalmatia is currently close to completion. Dramatically suspended at 70 metres above the water, the crossing forms part of a bypass between Split and Omiš, involving two tunnels and this concrete span stretching across 216 metres when both sides meet.

Before this happens, the two halves of the bridge remain within touching distance of each other, allowing PIXSELL photographer Matko Begović to take a series of striking images.

Dalmatia has seen a number of major engineering accomplishments in recent years, the most notable being Pelješac Bridge, unveiled in July 2022.
