A unique walking tour taking place this week puts visitors in touch with the strange medieval past of Istria’s atmospheric hilltop community of Motovun. Known for its fortifications and the truffle-lined forests beyond them, Motovun was once where a sorceress, Diletta Michiel practised magic several centuries ago.

This Saturday, an expert guide will be giving a storytelling tour of Motovun’s dark tales, bringing to life the strange deeds of this lady of Venetian nobility, whose legend has been passed down from generation to generation. Participants will also gain an insight to what life was like here 500 years ago or more – in fact, in terms of the buildings, not so much has changed…

The tour is free, given in English and starts from Trg A Antico at 7.45pm on July 20. To sign up, send an email to info@istrainspirit.hr.
