Croatian filmmakers and actors picked up a clutch of awards at the prestigious Sarajevo Film Festival just staged in the Bosnian capital. Director Juraj Lerotić took first prize for Best Feature for his emotional drama Safe Place – and also won for Best Actor for the same film.
The autobiographical story of a man trying to save his younger, depressed brother from committing suicide, Safe Place also took three prizes at 75th Locarno International Film Festival, where it premiered this month.
Croatian TV series The Last Socialist Artefact picked up five awards at Sarajevo, including Best Drama Series, Best Director and Best Screenplay, while Josip Lukić and Klara Šovagović won the Best Student Film award for It’s Not Cold For Mosquitoes.
