The UK fashion and lifestyle magazine British Vogue has been roaming the vineyards of Croatia to focus on three regions whose wines merit further investigation. Looking beyond the country’s beaches and historic cities, and pointing to its haul of three platinum and 16 gold medals at the most recent Decanter Wine Awards, travel writer Julia Eskins first visits the relatively unsung region of Konavle and its 20 producers of dry white wine. Here in the very southern tip of Dalmatia, the award-winning Karaman Winery comes in for particular praise.

Crossing the recently opened Pelješac Bridge, Julia then heads to the venerable Miloš Winery on the peninsula, and the steep slopes that produce the celebrated Stagnum wine.

Finally, she champions the family-run wineries of Istria, most notably Kozlović, Meneghetti and the design-forward Stanzia Baracija.
