PLACe Market, the recurring street food pop-up event with locations around Zagreb and Split, is returning to the capital for two special Advent editions. Today, December 6, and next Friday, December 13, Dolac market will become a hub of great food, music and Christmas spirit.

Conceived as a project for the revitalisation of Croatia’s marketplaces, PLACe brings top local chefs and restaurants to the square just above main Trg Bana Jelačića. This time round, the menus on offer will focus on traditional seasonal delights including meat-in-cabbage treat sarma, though plenty of other options will be available, from Thai cuisine to pancakes. A dedicated drinks bar will also feature, so you can enjoy the vibe without having to dine.

Joining the event for the first time is Dubravkin put, the second-ever Zagreb restaurant to receive a Michelin star. Its head chef, Tibor Valinčić, will be manning the stand personally next Friday, December 13.

From 6.30pm on December 6, visitors can expect a special visit from St Nicholas, who will bring little Christmas goody bags to hand out to any children he sees – making it a real family affair. For tunes, Kiki B will be behind the decks, spinning guests into an R’n’B party atmosphere.
