Cres island’s nicest hotel, the small three-star Golden Lion, is set above the bay of Martinšćica, a tiny seaside village that boasts a fine gravel beach. The hotel offers five larger suites and 25 doubles with air-conditioning and showers. The pricier rooms have their own balconies and sea views. The restaurant, serving seafood, lamb and brick-oven pizza, is handy in this small settlement with limited amenities. There’s also a bar. All in all, nothing too fancy, but all the basic comforts in a secluded seaside paradise.
The two and three-star Kimen offers a total of 223 affordable, basic rooms in three buildings situated inside a big wooded campus right in the middle of Cres town’s long beach. The 1970s-style main building, has the slightly more expensive, recently renovated ones, with bathrooms, balconies and air-conditioning. Various sports facilities are located nearby.
