Monarch Airlines have announced plans for two new flight connections between the UK and Zagreb. From 2017, travellers will be able to fly directly from Manchester and Gatwick to the Croatian capital - great news for holidaymakers from the North of the UK.

The flights will start running in late April. Gatwick flights are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while flights from Manchester will go twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays.

These new routes are part of a wider expansion of Croatia's air travel, with new terminals nearing completion at both Zagreb and Dubrovnik airports. It's owing to ever-increasing demand; Croatia Airlines, who have just announced new connections to Rome, Munich, Copenhagen and Frankfurt, estimate that 2016 will have seen 6.5 percent more passengers than 2015.
