Free Yo Mind Women's History Poetry Slam

Hello poets and community! Once, again the New Abolitionists Association Free Yo Mind Hip-Hop team is bringing a poetry slam to the people of Cleveland! As part of our initiative to highlight different parts of the city, we take our slam to the Northeast side of town at the Callaloo Cafe, known for its Trinidadian cuisine in the Collinwood neighborhood Last month, we hosted a slam in partnership with Case Western Reserve University's African-American Student Association. Despite heavy snow and frigid cold, 60+ still made it out and 6 slammed! A number of other poets also made use of our open mic. We can not give any more thanks for the continued community interest and for the outpouring of poets! This month marks Women's History Month, and we decided a slam dedicated to the month would do it justice. We encourage poets to try to focus poems on the oppression and contributions of women but as always, poets are never limited to what they spit!
