More than 1,000 people came out to Lincoln Hall on Sunday to taste some of Chicago's best variations of mac & cheese, with recipes that included ingredients like gruyere cheese, pork shoulder, leeks and more for some truly tasty concoctions. It was all part of the sold-out Time Out Chicago's Mac & Cheese Smackdown, with vendors like The Dawson, Bar Pastoral, Chicago Q, Beard & Belly, RPM Steak, Kuma's Corner and Lincoln Hall + Schubas. Beer was provided by Schöfferhofer, Radeberger and Palm to wash down all that cheesy goodness.
After three rounds of votes cast by attendees, The Dawson was crowned winner for the best mac & cheese (with smoked pork shoulder, 3-year-old cheddar and herbed bread crumbs). RPM Steak came in second place with a bacon and mushroom variation.
Don't miss Time Out Chicago's next food competition—Treat Yo' Self. The next event is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth, with offerings like milkshakes, pie and macarons from Osteria Langhe, Beatrix, Good Stuff Eatery, Lovely: A Bake Shop, Black Dog Gelato and more. Get your tickets here for one of three April 24 sessions at Fulton Market Kitchen.
