The Japanese-American photojournalist Jun Fujita is probably best known for capturing outsize events in Chicago history—like the Eastland Disaster and 1919 race riots—but he also spent his career shooting smaller scenes of urban life in the city he called home. You can learn more about the quieter elements of Fujita's legacy at this Newberry Library talk featuring documentary photographer Carlos Javier Ortiz and journalist Ethan Michaeli, who will discuss the late photojournalist's legacy and his impact on contemporary photography. The Newberry's free exhibition of Fujita's work runs through March 31.
