A landmark building on Michigan Avenue houses this historic artist's haven, filled with visual artists, musicians, performers and dance instructors. Aside from private studios, the second floor of the Fine Arts Building houses a gallery and a bookstore, while a trip up the last manually operated elevator in Chicago will take you to regular music or dance performances in Curtiss Hall. Artists working in the building open their doors to the public on the second Friday of each month.
